BLOOD!!!

today the institute was having a blood drive, so I, being such a giving person, decided to give up some of my blood. well the lady comes up to me and asks if I have ever donated blood and I told her that I haven't. so she tells me that it was be a good idea for me to be a double doner. that's where they seperate the blood cells from the plasma and then put the plasma back in you. I guess I thought it would be a cool thing to do. wow, was I completely mislead. I sit down and they give me this foam squeezing thing. I kept squeezing and squeezing and squeezing and squeezing it. It kind of started hurting and I could see that my arm was turning a very unnatural color. All of a sudden the lady tells me to start squeezing the thing faster and faster. then she takes the needle and starts moving it around. ya... that hurt. usually the process is supposed to take about 30 min to a hour. mine probably lasted about 20 min, including the part where she was moving around the needle, so pretty much my blood donation was unsuccesful. me, being me, asked her if that meant that something was wrong with me, but she reasured me that this was not the case. I felt a little better after that. I still got a pin because I, as the lady told me, "rode the big kid ride" today. although I didn't exactly fill a whole bag up, I hope they can still use it. haha... well they of course supplied us with many refreshments afterwards, which I immediatly took advantage of, considering that I barely ate breakfast. that is probably one of the biggest drags of college, I barely ever eat, especially breakfast, so that means by about 9 my stomach is growling uncontrolably. anyways, I was just happy that I was able to do something that will contribute to society. now I can tell people that I quit possibly may have saved their life. haha... actually I wouldn't say that. aftermath of donating consists of me being completly tired, and almost passing out in my sociology class. o well, just another day.

the mountains

so apparently there is this "fun" thing that all the kids up here do called spotlighting... and seeing that I'm pretty much a city girl I had no idea what the heck this was. now I'm proud to say that I now do!! so last night we went to FHE which ended up being such a bust. We then decided to go spotlighting. The night consisted of clint, spencer, these two girls that I don't really know, and I going up to the mountains. clint is always going up there to go "hunting" or looking for deer, so we went with him this time. we started driving up the mountain and then we whipped the light out and started searching for the animals glowing eyes. we didn't see anything interesting and we probably almost got killed a few times since clint wasn't watching the road. we did find a lot of skunks... and of course the boys, being their stupid selves, tried to catch them. luckily they weren't sucessful because I wasn't about to drive around in a car with people who reaked of skunk!! anyways, I had to go to the restroom quit a few times, so we pulled over a lot. k... so since we didn't see any deer while we were spotlighting I didn't think we would even end up seeing one. but of course, right when we were about to give up, a deer jumps off the cliff right in front of the truck and we totally hit it!!! it was insane... so all of them went over there to see if it was still alive and they told me to stay behind, which of course I thought was stupid, but right when they went over there the deer hopped up and started running straight at me. it was on amission to kill me or something, but luckily I hopped into the truck, screaming, for protection. you would think that this would have been enough, but no. we ended up going all the way to the top of the mountain to this meadow where we were going to stay till 3 in the morning to watch the eclipse. now let me remind you that this was a school night and I had to wake up at 6 this morning. it was freezing cold up there, I didn't have a sweater, and those girls with us were getting on my last nerve. well, spencer and clint had this brilliant idea that they were going to go touch the "haunted" picnic table across the meadow. this was after they had just told us a bunch of scary stories too. so they went over there, and they asked us to shine the light over there because they thought they could see something. all of a sudden we see they sprinting towards the truck screaming and telling us to turn the truck on. they got in and we spud off. appearantly they saw something that wasn't a person or a bear, but something huge that looked like a person. I was pretty much done after that. so we started going down the mountain when we pulled off to the side of the road, and then they said that we were going to stay there till three to see the eclipse. ya... it was already about 12 and I wasn't about to spend 3 more hours on the stupid mountain when I was already irritated from lack of sleep. so we went home, and the whole way home the boys were testing my knowledge and pretty much just trying to make me feel stupid. they succeeded, mostly because I feel stupid for even going since I had a really early class this morning which coinsidently is my hardest class... statistics. this is really long, but it is probably one of the most interesting things that I've been through while I've been here so I thought I would tell you all about it. I'm sure I'l probably have a few more experiences like this so just bear with my long stories. :)

church

WOW!!! let me tell you something... three hour church is the longest thing EVER!!! I was soo confused when we went in, because first we go to relief society, then sunday school, and then we have sacrament. Apparently lots of people have done this before, but I was thinking to myself, "um.... where the heck are all the guys!?!" I know, that's probably really imature of me, but hey... who knows when I'll meet the man of my dreams. haha... ok that was stupid but remember I have to get my FLIRT on!!! But anyways, church went really well. The lesson was good and the sacrament speakers were amazing. I think I'm going to like it here.

Dorm Room

Well... let's see. First of all I can't believe I'm finally back in school. This summer felt like it was going on forever. OK... so I showed up to move into my dorm room and the first thing I think is, "WOW... I'm going to be living in a prison cell for the next year!!!" But all is well, because I completely filled up all of my space with all the crap I have (and for those of you who have seen my room at home you probably know what I mean). My bed is right next to Maggie's... who of course is always keeping dorm life interesting for me. In the other section of the room, my roomates are Breinn and Lacey. Breinn is from round valley, and is my hang out buddy. Lacey is a year older than all the rest of us in here, and she has an amazing voice. She is the designated guitar player for us. There are three other rooms attached to our "room thingy." The other girls seem to think we are always avoiding them because we aren't out in the living room watching TV 24 7 haha!!! Can't wait for you guys to come visit me... because you totally should.

love me

PS: you will be happy to know that I found the YELLOW PARKA... hence it being in the picture!!!
